Love from London

Dear Marc, we've arrived in London where everythings a little more grand, a little more sophisticated and a little more weird.

For instance, the shower at our place is constructed to spurt water in two directions. Unfortunately, neither way is down. For the first time in history, it's possible to take a shower without getting wet. Why does this seem so British? All food items in our local store is made to be microwaved. All of it.

The first day, we went looking for parks, only to find that the majority are locked up. We saw empty playground after empty playground, with the two kids crying from frustration. Growing up in a socialist country, where everything, including the king's private palace, is open to the public, it all seemed exotic and exclusive in a not so great way.

Finally we found a park. And then a primary school with a small moat and guard dogs. Exotic! Exclusive!

Here's me and the kids in front of our place. And my fave boots.

And the poppa.

My brother came over to report for manny duty. He's with the kids as I type.

Ok, that's it for now. Must write important article covering the life of Bianca Jagger. The fashion years, the decades of working to save humanity from evils and George W Bush.
Do you know Bianca? Have any great input? Thank you!

Love

Omg, I can't believe you're living in London, I'm SO jealous I might just turn green with envy. Love the boots, your place looks so posh! Cheers!

I think English shower head must be patented. They are, if anything, unique in their ability to keep you dry! ;-)
My favourite London park is Greenwich Park. I don't know where in London you live, but it's definitely worth making your way to Greenwich. Such fabulous views of the town!
Good luck finding your feet,
Jasmin

Buckingham palace is open for visits too you know!

Head up north to Hampstead Heath. Great playgrounds there, though you missed the ice rink for this year. And Highgate Woods, and the Princess Di one in Kensington Gardens.

So looking forward to your dispatches from London. I miss my home.

Det här med parker.. det beror ju på var ni bor. Battersea Park är stor och underbar och innehåller allt. Parsons Green är en trevlig barnvänlig park i Fulham, Kensington Park är barnvänligt med lekparker och en härlig japansk trädgård..

I moved to London when my daughter was only a few months old and at that age the private parks are pure evil, forget emergency nappy changes and nursing in peace. Over time we solved the problem by 1.) finding friend with access to private garden; 2.) moving closer to the more egalitarian Hyde Park, and finally; 3) renting apartment with our own private garden. Showed them...

Anyway, London with (older) kids is so much fun! On rainy days I strongly recommend the Science Museum, they have a wonderful hands-on area for kids, they'll love it! And if you long for some swedish company, as swedes abroad tend to do, the swedish church has "öppen förskola" every week. And yes, there are fresh cinnamon buns for sale every week.

Enjoy you stay!

Thanks for all your great advice! I've now found Holland Park and Hyde Park. We'll be fine. But I'd still love to have one of those keys!
